[Ryzom] Some news
Marjo Wrote:Hello, as much as I'd have preferred to speak about some upcoming projects, I bring you today news about the financial state of the game you're all so passionate about.
Ryzom is going to pass through a few uncertain days/weeks, a second time. Our efforts to move Ryzom forward didn't get the expected repercussions and today as I speak, while the game continues to run and to be supported, the company behind its development - Gameforge France SARL, located in Paris - is lacking the funds to keep going. For those who've known the Nevrax times and went through the transitory period in last December, the same legal procedure of "liquidation judiciaire" has been put in place yesterday. This means that while the appointed liquidator will do what it takes to close the company, potential buyers may show up to take over the game Ryzom. If nobody shows up, the servers will be shut down in less than 3 weeks at liquidator's request.
Meanwhile, what is going to change for you? Ryzom is still running and your characters remain. However the game development has been frozen and the billing system and Free Trials are undergoing the following changes:
* Paying subscribers will not be billed and will be able to continue playing for free.
* It's not possible to pay to subscribe to a full Ryzom account anymore.
* You will still be able to create a Free Trial account, but at the moment there will be no possibility to upgrade your account and go to mainland.
* The level cap on Silan is removed for the Free Trials in the meantime.

RE: [Ryzom] Some news
Sweet, news from GameForge! Oh, wait...
I guess it's not that much of a surprise, but this really is a shame. It really seems like GF made enough promises to keep our subscriptions open, then turned its back on us. While I wasn't too keen on the idea last time, the Free Ryzom campaign is still out there; some updates can be found here. If nothing else can be done in the next 3 weeks, lets hope Xavier & Co. can save this wonderful game!
If this really is the end, though, what of all the Reapers? There really isn't another game out there that compares to Ryzom, but if the guild moved elsewhere I would follow in a heartbeat. You all rock...

I'm a little hopeful about the Free Ryzom guys....But, if the worst happens....I love you guys! *cries*
Maybe some brain storming on a new home is in order? *sigh*

RE: [Ryzom] Some news
Bleh, totally was expecting this, doesn't make it nice to know I was right, however
Game is near unplayable right now (lag); Ring scenarios only way for people to interact -- took some screenies at Seh's store today, maybe last time I get to log in unless someone saves things. As for the Free Ryzom thing...I thought it was a good idea way back when I heard of it, but I heard disturbing rumours -- just because someone is the only option does not mean one ought to ignore their past dodginess...(it is not as if they are Obi wan kenobi, last hope stuff... *swoon*)
Anyways, good luck to us all!

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time.
You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken.
You'll fight with your best friend.
You'll blame a new love for things an old one did.
You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love.
So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back
